Friedman did.
However, you more broadly call people interested in unidentified flying objects "ufo flakes", so I guess that would include me. However, seeing as I was not attacking you, but rather wooing you; I'll keep this reply pleasant as I am happy to see you back and don't want to get your feathers ruffled. We'll let Tom do that.
Stanton Friedman was the first civilian scientist to investigate Roswell. He got to see the machinations of the US government and yes, he does have a degree:
>"Stanton T. Friedman received BSc and MSc degrees in physics from the University of Chicago in 1955 and 1956. He was employed for 14 years as a nuclear physicist for such companies as GE, GM, Westinghouse, TRW Systems, Aerojet General Nucleonics, and McDonnell Douglas on such advanced, classified projects as nuclear aircraft, fission and fusion rockets, and nuclear powerplants for space."
Now, seeing as you just joined this "fight" between Socrates II and I, you start it with a flame. I'll admit, I HAD to throw in Friedman's comment to show Larry where I stood. He was on the offensive with me earlier, but we finished on a nice note last thread.
However your:
>"The reason the UFO flakes hate the SETI crowd is because" .....is another flame AND...
>" The SETI people ....are willing to admit they still don't know for sure and will wait for the judgement of publicly verifiable observations, not third-hand anecdotal revelations. That attitude is anathema to cults. "
THAT JUST ISN'T TRUE ER. You are denigrating the STUDY of ufos, as if anyone who studies the phenomena are cultists. And you would be WRONG. Sure, there are those who'll believe anything. Look at American politics. And here again, you trivialize the hundreds of thousands of carefully scrutinized cases that have been studied and chalked them up to "third-hand anecdotal revelations". You sound like a pundit to me.
I'm not "sold" on their existence, either. As a matter of fact, I made a statement where I mused perhaps it was a government or military experiment. However they've been around a lot longer than that. We just don't know what they are yet, or we haven't invented a device that can capture and monitor them. At least that development is NOT available out in the public domain.

I, for one did not call the SETI people "cultists"
The whole thread (36 posts)
- A nuclear scientist comments on SETI
- re: I am curious.
- If somebofy witnesses a UFO (which happens all over the world....then..
- Stanton Friedman a CIA operative?
- Not Kinky Friedman?
- You take your gods where you find them.
