Why is everyone so hung up on this theory?

Since when did we start looking at our neighbours yard? Or did we start wondering if they are really there and what they are doing or if they are looking at us?

I talk about neighbours because I want to take all the misticity of ET away. Who cares? Frankly, I do believe there are other forms of life and I can only assume that some of them are as intelligent if not more than us.
But I don't go worrying too much about it.

See, someone moved in at the house in front of ours. Not sure who they are, but don't care all that much, as long as I don't start seeing harmful or suspiscius activities, they can stay there and I won't bother. If they come over, I'll open the door and listen to what they have to say.

So why are we worrying about SETI and what they do? Aren't they just opening the doors to listen to neigbours? To make sure someone knocked or not at our door?

and no, the signal won't be "testing 1, 2" but something that has nothing to do with us or nothing of significance (for that matter).

SETI just want's to see if they can transfor a theory into a fact. that there are indeed ET signals out there...

it's like just making sure that someons DOES live next door... and if they don't like watching sport on weekends or have fun in the evenings, then they can stay there.. I am not interested.

I endorse SETI because I came from the old country, where you respect your neighbour and keep an eye out for your community. I don't expect anyone else to do it nor I really care. I am just opening my front door to see if my neoighbour neede something.

And I am no nuclear scientist either
