that whoever dug up these tapes selected the most outrageous minutes from decades of preaching that this minister did and you're seeing only those snippets played over and over again. I simply can't believe that, had this guy spouted this stuff the majority of the time, that someone as politically astute as Obama would have tolerated it.
To his credit, from what I'm reading, when this was first brought up to Obama, he immediately rebuked the messages and there's no proof he was in attendance during any of these rants.
I can give him a pass on this one because he has never shown that same level of outrage directed at America that his preacher did during any of his history or shown any real disrespect towards others or any lack of patriotism. Him having some hidden agenda just doesn't fit with his personality and actions in life.
Now let's apply the associations that McCain has had with hateful fundamentalist clergymen and look at his own temperment and public statements. In that case his demeanor and quotes more closely match the vile rhetoric spewed forth from these cretins. If we're going to put the spotlight on people, let's apply it equally. Nobody then really escapes and we're back to a much more even playing field.
