Don't patronize me, TB,

When I was a little kid, my grandmother and I used to play a game. She told me if I misbehaved, the "Tiger would get me."

I would answer that if the Tiger came, I would run away.
"But the Tiger can run faster and he will catch you.'
"So I'll climb a tree."
"But the Tiger will climb up and get you."
"I'll get a gun and shoot him."
"But you will miss."
and so on...the Tiger always got me.

Arguing with you is like that. The Tiger will always get me. Except there is no Tiger, TB. It doesn't matter how desperately you need to believe there is one to make the rest of your philosophy hang together. And you never stop and think that maybe there's a Tiger all your own creeping up behind you.

Look down that list of conspiracies and tell me with a straight face that you haven't devised a ready excuse to blithely dismiss any criticism of anything you say by simply assigning it to one of your pre-prepared bogeymen.

If many thinkers and commentators don't follow your line, perhaps it's just because they don't believe what you believe. Perhaps what you should be asking yourself is if maybe there's some other reason why they don't other than the convenient ones you've surrounded yourself with. If 9 out of 10 blacks vote Democratic maybe, just maybe, it's because they believe the Democrats will give them a better deal. Is that so inconceivable?

And while were on the topic of lists, how about this one:
coward,
unpatriotic,
surrender monkey,
collectivist,
appeaser,
"pressured peer",
sophist,
wacko,
LIBERAL. I could go on.

That's not exactly the kind of persuasion that's likely to gain you any friends or even a sympathetic ear. Maybe there are people who are thoughtful and responsible thinkers who have given these issues a lot of thought and simply don't accept your arguments or the world view that spawns them. You see, TB, your views don't originate from a cold and dispassionate analysis of the facts as you fancy they do, they arise (and you have said this yourself, many times) from your fear that everyone who does not accept your views either wants to steal your stuff, or somehow has managed to convince a majority of the people on the planet that they need to steal your stuff. I can't speak for the others, but I find it very difficult to take this point of view seriously. It's like the NASA conspiracy that is covering up the truth about the Face on Mars. And like any other conspiracy theory or anomalism, it doesn't hold up to scrutiny.

If you don't like how I respond to your posts, I won't.
But I'll expect the same.
