Old school doesn't work.

The secret is in the fines. Money makes the world go round.

Making drug offenders take up jail space is for suckers.

As soon as they are caught, fine them, or provide judges that sentences 24/7 purely on drug offense matters and put them to work serving their labor sentences almost immediately. They get arrested at 8 PM, sentenced at 9 PM and are done with their sentence at 6 AM.

Can you imagine how much free labor and revenue the government would make? It would make it more profitable than the pharmaceutical industry. (Well almost.)

Deficit? No deficit. You want socialized drug treatment centers? The sort of revenue generation provided by $75 alcohol fines, $100 smoking fines, $150 marijuana fines, $350 meth fines etcetera would soon pay for top notch drug treatment in every state. Heck, if a state was addicted enough it might provide enough revenue for very modest socialized medicine availability working alongside the existing pay system.

That's got to be a bigger draw than a society overloaded with slowly dying addicts that has all the "minor" drugs available at every 7-11 and addicts seeking ever stronger drugs that have to be "legalized" next because of rampant abuse by a society of addicts.
