Sure sounds to me like "Well, aren't you being stupid here." I really don't think you understand how patronizing you sound when someone says something you don't agree with. Perhaps you should go to a course in communications skills.
Any trained professional in that area would tell that beginning a conversation with something potentially disparaging to an individual puts them on the defensive immediately and stops communication.
Just perhaps a proper response might have been - "Buck, you made some valid points there but have you considered....."
I hope Tom that this bullying and condescending style you exhibit on here is localized to your internet communication and that you have a bit more discretion in real life. If not, you must have quite a lonely existence.
Compromise and acknowledgment of the legitimacy of the thought processes of others is not a sign of weakness. It is the ultimate in humanity.
