When you were asked to provide clear cut examples of what the Democrats did during their reign that hurt the country, you had to go back to Roosevelt and Kennedy to find things that history might look upon as mistakes but at the time were widely supported by both parties.
If that's your criteria, I can pull up (again) the initial support of leading Democrats not only for the Iraq war, but even more to the point, the interrogation methods used early in the process.
Again, the rest of your litany, including "Constitutional violations" are mostly only between the ears of "progressives." Out in the real world, years of investigations, legal opinions, and voting records (such as Obama on FISA) show considerably less hysteria on these issues.
When the Democrats took the House and the Senate in 2006, the Left was champing at the bit to finally bring the Evil Ones to justice. What happened? Waxman had a steady string of dog-and-pony hearings, but nothing really went anywhere. Scattered calls for impeachment proceedings died at the Democratic leadership level.
It's been two years now. What do Pelosi and Reid know that you apparently don't? Why does Democratic Washington come to different conclusions than the Daily Kos does? If the monstrous acts of this administration were so frigging cut-and-dried, where was the action?
If you want to talk about real "damage," go back to the post I made in response to Bowser comparing entitlement impacts with that of the war. Entitlements are a huge fiscal time bomb, and unlike the subsidized mortgage crisis, your side is going to have a tougher time explaining the collapse of entitlements as the fault of conservative principles.
Same for the impending foldup of government employee pension programs. You haven't read much about that in the papers, have you?
