It's obvious you get all your talking points from the right wing propaganda machine.
Impeachment didn't have the votes to convict. You know that and so did the House leadership. Had they lost, your side would have held up neon banners proclaiming Bush completely exonerated and the Democrats grossly incompetent. It was political suicide since there are no more Republicans that will break from the pack during critical issues. How did Clinton's impeachment work out for you guys?
As far as FISA goes, you know full well that Obama and others voted for the latest version while holding their noses because there was at least a partial restoration of judicial review. It was obvious that it was a stopgap vote until after inauguration. Let's talk about this issue in a year from now. I have the feeling there'll be huge amounts of accountability and citizen privacy restored. It's also likely there will be investigations and possible convictions for the abuses. If some Democrats go down in I'm fine with that.
The early support for the war across both parties was based on gross distortions of intelligence data. Not only that but Mr. Gung Ho put the nation into a nationalistic blood-thirsty frenzy that made it nearly political suicide to oppose the war or put any restrictions on the administration especially if the congressmen lived in a conservative district and faced re-election. Citizens of this nation and the media assumed that the Commander-In-Chief was making decisions and calling for action that was mandatory for our safety and competent as American actions should be. They never imagined that every action being done in war time by this bunch had a huge political motive behind it as a number of people that have left the inner circle have made clear.
The reason entitlements are a huge fiscal time bomb is because of gross mismanagement of our national budget not because the programs are fundamentally wrong. It will require sacrifice of all citizens to continue supporting them but the alternative is stepping over the dead bodies in the street and dealing with a crime problem you can't even comprehend. How would you like your grandparents right now relying on a privatized Social Security with a good portion of the funds in our "stable" stock market?
So what do you propose to eliminate Medicare Tom? Privatization of course. Add huge costs to retired people to take care of their own health when they barely make ends meet now. Oh, of course those private companies are going to never turn one of those people down for a pre-existing condition or risk. The only way out of this mess is to put the health insurance companies out of business for standard health care and go to a complete single payer system with doctors paid a set salary not based on the procedure. The paperwork and infrastructure to manage health claims eats up huge amount of our health care resources and causes our industries to be non-competitive. I worked in the industry Tom. Your rants on this issue have not a single basis in fact.
It's the same old thing over and over. More of the Limbaughisms and commie fear mongering. It's getting really close to the point where I just start treating you as I do Lee which is basically to not talk to you directly but just laugh at your excess with the intelligent people on here. It's a shame. I'm sure there was a time when you'd have been a worthy and respected adversary. Anymore though you're just small and petty.
