I fought (and lost) a five year battle on the internet, professional meetings and symposia, and numberless panels, round tables and trade paper debates to stop certification of specialists in my industry.
It was an unscrupulous power grab by a trade association to control workers by setting up a two tier salary system in order to keep labor costs down and to divide the tech community into competing castes via worker competency documentation.
My refusal to accept their generous grandfather clause and get my certification over that of my fellow workers is one of the main reasons I've had to switch careers in my dotage.
Private industrial capital doesn't need government collaborators to pervert the free market, especially the free labor market. It's already what they do best.
Tell me about it.
