Arizona has a safety net for those who can't afford healthcare, and which affords poor people who can't afford insurance and even non-citizen illegals an access to healthcare better than most private insurance plans -0 copay for almost anything. The program, AHCCCS, permits even the poor, and illegals which comprise a huge part of the insured, complete primary care physicians, specialist treatment, drug coverage, operations, emergency treatment - the works. I'm not sure if dental is included too - but I wouldn't be surprised if it is! These folks are receiving top-notch healthcare that's the equivalent or superior of any private healthcare insurance costing $500 plus a month. Pre-existing conditions? All accepted and treated immediately. Try and find a private healthcare that will do that.
There is absolutely NO need in our state for a Federal health insurance program. Zip. Nada. It could only be worse than what we have.
Any Federal program here would simply shift the burden to the Federal level and increase the bureaucracy.
I suspect many states have similar programs to Arizona's. If the states imitate this state's program, and contract with private physicians and hospitals, the nation would be infinitely better off than putting physicians and hospitals solely in the employment of the Federal government, protected from malpractice suits and guaranteeing more wrongful deaths, carelessness and incpmpetence into the healthcare system.
