That's why I say, set it at the states doors. If the Federal governmet wants to get involved in mandating that states provide such a system, I'm all for it - provided they dont touch the physicians and hopsitals or interfere with the profit angle.

Sure when the economy tanks AHCCS is going to skyrocket in new claims and costs. But a Federal system would simply bloat the bureaucracy, and instead of state incompetence - you now have state level AND national level incompetence to contend with. Each state knows their own demographics, population and health issues best.

I would support a Federal law mandating State programs for those under a certain income. I would prefer to see these state programs supported and paid for with taxes on tobacco, alcohol and the like.

Yes, it's a maze out there. A nightmare. But it COULD be WORSE.

I know how it is in Germany. I know how LONG folks wait for operations and treatment. They have had socialized medicine for over 50 years now and all of Germany could fit into California. If Germany has difficulty with providing care, I can just imagine what would happen if DC took over the industry and started calling the shots.

It would be a healthcare disaster, harming as many or more than currently slip through the cracks.
