But if it's a state thing, is it fair to a citizen, if they move into another state, that they lose their health care if no such program exists? Wouldn't it be in the best interests of the country as a whole to ensure citizens can relocate easily and freely throughout our nation?
You must not be following our budget negotiations either because AHCCS has been overflowing with new applications and it's costs are skyrocketing. It's probably unsustainable without federal help (which it does get by the way). The problem with a system like this though is that it still is a slave to the convoluted medical coding system and still must make bizarre contracts with health care providers to provide service, a terribly inefficient process.
In order to make any program's costs drop, that system of paying by procedure must be removed and doctors have to agree to a simple salary system if they want to be part of a governmental program.
I'm telling you, until you work in that field and see the mess, you have no clue how many dollars and hours go into the administration of health provider reimbursement. My eyes were opened big time from one year working at United Health Care. After that year I probably understood 1/100th of the complexity that had evolved and I was a very quick study. My coworkers sat around with glazed eyes for the most part. About the time you'd think you had a handle on something, the contract would expire and a new one with twice the idiocy would appear.
