As always, you are obsessed with the present conflict, not the overall process.
The British succeeded in Iraq, and failed in Afghanistan. Alexander the Great conquered Iraq and Afghanistan and used it as a base to invade India. So what does that tell you about the so-called lessons of history? But you have added another bit of evidence to document the perfidy of your enemies and their perverse inability to understand the obvious. I can sense the satisfaction and the bitterness from here.
Every single post must be used to discredit your enemies and promote your position, keeping score and making points. But you still have missed the point. The issue was never about whether or not it would work. The question should have been whether or not it was right.
Bush was wrong about Iraq not because of history, but because it was naked and unjustified agression. But he was right about Afghanistan even though he was the agressor there too. And that is how it will be remembered by history.
