1. Controlled nuclear fusion with net power production has not yet been achieved. I may never be achieved given losses from various mechanisms related to confinement, thermalization, power re-circulation, etc.
2. The speed required to achieve interstellar travel in a single human lifetime, say 40 years, is ~10% cee. At that speed the impact of a single proton on the front hull of the ship will flood the interior with lethal gamma radiation. Good luck with that.
