Market forces are the result of millions of decisions made by millions of people every day. They can be obstructed, suppressed, or warped to serve special interests, which is what is accomplished by most economic laws generated by governments and willing business accomplices, but not steered by force to work more effectively than they would if left alone.
ER confuses persuasion with force. Again.
The people who are controlling things like light bulbs don't give a crap about saving electricity. Their own behavior should be a clue. Like most other issues, this is about power.
In agriculture, artificial selection has given us sheep, cattle, domestic turkeys, and monocultural crops that need to be cared for and coddled lest they die under the least stress. Domestic animals, whose sole function is to serve their masters. Ironically, that's what controlled economies also give us in human form.
