If you want to back that up, how about looking at the actual safety record of U.S. offshore oil drilling and, for that matter, nuclear power? Or are you suggesting that any industry that ever has a major accident should be shut down?

Rob makes a good point. The "progressives" are doing their damnedest to shut down our energy industry and offering mostly rainbows and rationing as an alternative. Meanwhile other nations are drilling and building reactors and massive hydroelectric projects.
