Pretty much all of that first paragraph is you reading something into that conversation that is not apparent from the transcript.
As for Obama being against ramming policies down our throats, are you sure you're living in the same dimension I am?
The "Tea Party Nation" you keep linking to is a website. The actual movement is decentralized, broadly based, with a wide range of opinions and target issues. The one common factor is that people think the government is getting too damn big, too damn powerful, and is spending too damn much money. The media has been doing its damnedest to paint these people as "loons." The same media that deifies people like Olbermann and Moore. It isn't working. If you want the broader range of opinions on the target issues, try the polls. Even then, it's worth keeping in mind that all polls are comprised of those people who don't hang up the phone yelling "leave me alone, I've got a life!"
Again, do you recall the crap I used to get for posting endless examples of leftist loons? The ones I was told had "nothing to do" with leftism? Or are you just going to keep batting that one away?
I have the principles I developed over three decades ago, and they haven't changed significantly since. The Republican Party has indeed floated randomly around in various backwaters. I haven't.
