I didn't mean the military retirement pensions were huge; I meant that their second jobs after retirement could have and usually would have huge salaries. Do you imagine that Colin Powell works for $50,000 a year? His lectures alone will be making him huge amounts of money. Don't misunderstand me. He deserves every dime of it. He earned it. And the firemen, the police, the teachers have earned their pensions and their other benefits. Without unions, it will all be taken away which is exactly what is happening now. I'm telling you, you're going to live to regret it. Who's going into burning building for you kid or your neighbor? A fireman who no longer gives a shit because you took away his benefits? Who's going to teach your kid? A teacher who doesn't give a damn whether your kid grows up to be a garbage collector or a criminal?
You strip these people, you strip their will to perform. And you can't fire them all. There won't be anyone who'll want their low-pay, no benefit jobs that are just as lousy as every other job where people DON'T put their lives on the line or don't work 60-70 hour work weeks.

- So you want a few million government employees on the dole, too?
- Retiring officers in the military have the same sweet package.
