The Ryan program is a good starting point. Details need to be worked on. So were the answers that the Simpson-Bowles Commission came up with back in 2010 when the Democrats, who DID control the House, Senate, and Presidency, could have used to write this budget back when their power was near absolute.

One crystalline certainty has to be held in the mind: Only eight years ago, the budget was a trillion dollars smaller in constant dollars than it is right now. Try and think of ANY government service we have now that we did not have then. Hell, try and think of any major government service that wasn't available when the first George Bush was elected president, and the budget was HALF what it is now. Something is seriously screwed up here, and we shouldn't have to destroy the country to fix it. Even hypothetically.
