<Try to think of a major Republican policy position that does not involve wealth redistribution? They even use it to justify the shape of their tax-cuts (the rich pay too much, etc....)
Deregulation, tax cuts, reduction in the size of government, limited government, reduction in the control of the state over the individual, and individual freedom as more important than the collective. Unfortunately, these classic Republican positions don't seem to be as prominent in the Republican platform as they used to be.
As for the tax cut canard, allowing people to keep more of their own money is NOT wealth redistribution, although the Left has successfully managed to palm that very useful lie off to a lot of people with less than precise thinking.
