OK - R.L. I would like to know what 'really' bugs you about my posts?
My intentions, when posting on the space board, is three fold.
1) To obtain knowledge in some particular field that seems important to me at that particular time. Sometimes I do not need more than a link to the needed information, but other times the information that I'm looking for must be gathered from various fields of expertise.
2) Sometimes I feel that by adding my knowledge or information to a thread, it may expand the readers comprehension of the subject matter, or at least indicate what I think about the subject matter.
3) See my latest post on the space board, it was written simply to let everyone know that I have found the information that I was looking for. My original posts on that subject was to find out if the speculation that the Earth's atmosphere can be heated by the radioactivity that has been expelled into the atmosphere has any merit.
And furthering that line of thinking, if the heating occurred, would it be enough to accelerate air molecules into space.
Of all the garbage information that I received from R.L on that subject, there was one bit of useful information, that information was the quantity of energy needed to heat the Earth's atmosphere by one degree. That information can be used as a reference. The calculations that are necessary for determining the energy content in various radioactive isotopes can be compared against this reference.
Random thoughts.
I consider the people posting on the space board as experts in their chosen fields, that is why, if I post there, I expect to receive intelligent comments if not answers, even if my postings do not seem intelligent to the said 'experts'.
My knowledge of psychology and psychiatry is very limited, but I have noticed that some people who post here think they are experts in everything. To me that type of posturing seems to contain elements of insecurity and feelings of inferiority.
R.L. said that radioactivity does not heat the atmosphere and there are no molecules of the atmosphere escaping into space. But I found out that there ARE molecules of air escaping into space and it IS possible for radioactivity to heat the atmosphere.
I'm sure that R.L. knows something about mathematics, that's why I trust that his calculations are correct.
The error that he made was in not including in his calculations the total energy that the radioactive elements give off and not including the total quantity of radioactive elements that are available.
As the saying goes, figures don't lie but liars can figure.
