It took a while, but Sam finally responded to my request for a private email conversation. I can't reveal the text without his permission, of course. But I can tell you that he came across as what he seems on the surface: Somebody who's (currently) uninformed about subjects related to space and science in general; and he seemed genuinely interested

Perhaps he isn't operating on the same rarefied intellectual level as a Zoner. But it would behoove Zoners to remember that they're a bit different from mere mortals, and that they should express a bit of humility through being more understanding of other people. Think of it as noblesse oblige of the intellect.

In other words, don't be so damn arrogant.

I agree with you, Fox. The flaming of Sam on the Space board reflects badly on the HabitableZone.
