Fox, in that case it is under-determined

There is no way we can determine if he is being willful and lazy in this or if he is a profoundly limited individual. Earlier posts (community) seemed to suggest he WAS capable of articulation (Robert had an off-board exchange with him that resulted in Sam being allowed to stay). This would seem to suggest to me that he really should be able to not act like a Troll.

To be perfectly frank, lets suppose this analogy (I know, argument by analogy is damnable by my own estimation, but I think this fits).

Suppose a profoundly limited (learning disabled) person wandered into a grad course we were taking on some esoteric subject. Lets suppose this person then demands to be part of the discussion by asking questions and pulling out amateure and irrelevant sources. After the class, the students and teacher ask him to attend quietly in the future, and take notes and really work hard not to be a burden on the community of the class. If he promises to do this, he will be welcomed back.

But suppose the individual returned class after class and continued the same behavior? At what point does tolerance yield to rightful and righteous anger?
