What the public wants: a lunar based NEO detection system

It ain't a question of personal "wants", its a question of public "needs".

The public would like NASA to spend their money doing something useful to them - like keeping them from going the way of the dinosaur.

THE way to do this is with a lunar based NEO detection system, and NASA management knows full well that that is the best system for the job.

Since that job is ensuring the continuance of the human species, I doubt if the public will tolerate NASA management low-balling it.

Weiler and Morrison have until June to get their act together and cost out ALL the options; if what they come in with this time is as bad as what they came in with before, then they will be publicly burned at the stake by the Space Science Subcommittee.

If Weiler and Morrison have a workable, better, and cheaper free space based alternative, they better have it in hand, including the details of the yearly operations budgets.
