I'm not tryting to sell a single Moon mission. I'm trying to sell a series of mission to Mars. 1 mission to the Moon is a small addition unlike the 90 day plan. It is quite likely that this will not convince many die hard luna first proponants who can't deal with realities like the rocket equation and the relative differences in resources between the Moon and Mars, but there are many more nuetral people this may nudge over the fence. My presumption is that finding lunar water and demonstrating it's usefulness might help promote private linar efforts or government efforts at a later date. It is better than nothing for Luna proponants and does address the fears of many astronauts of heading straight for Mars without redemonstrating abilities beyond LEO.
