Not Sure where you went to School, but it was voluntary in my Public School. I remember there being a Jehova Witness girl in my class who did not pledge allegieance. She was not expelled, reprimanded, or even looked at demeaningly by the teacher. I thought she had a lot of guts to sit there and hold true to her beliefs even when the kids were snickering around her.
Now if its because of peer pressure that you say, that a kid is required to pledge allegience you are also wrong. Peer pressure is not the same as requirement. I had a lot of peer pressure growing up to deny my personal beliefs. I was not required to deny them by anybody.
Please point out the law that says every child must say the pledge of Allegiance in Public School.
