Not to trivialize the name of God, but what the hell is all the fuss about? I suppose it's because adults are in charge. Kids wouldn't bother to argue such a pointless argument. When they come to "under God" they just mutter it and get on with class. Chances are, if there isn't a nit picking, petty adult around to scream "unconstitutional!" they would care less.
One thing for sure, if someone doesn't believe in God, then muttering His name in the pledge isn't going to alter their convictions.
I had another thought about the dad who started all this furor....he's allegedly so damned puritanical on the subject of constitutional propriety, yet he is denying his own kid the aforesaid rights. Maybe she wants to learn about God. Isn't that up to her?
If daddy had ever had an original thought he would explain his view to his kid, then also point out that in America the matter of worship is entirely a personal choice....it's your right to accept my views, or pursue your own.
