<There is one "God" in Christianity, and even a Commandment about it. And, it's not that simple.
Really? Too broad a Brush there Bowser. I believe in 3 and I'm a Christian.
In another attempt to incorporate pagan religions, with plural or multiple gods, Christianity adopted the artifice of the "Trinity", one "God" who is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
Not Christianity per se, but Catholicism and many of it's offshoots. Believe it or not there are Christians who still believe that the Godhead consists of 3 individual persons (yet one in purpose) without that trinity stuff muddying up the waters.
I believe it was at the Nicean conference that 300+ Bishops held a debate to decide on the interpretation of the scripture. Wasn't that about 325 AD? Multiple flavors of Christianity were well under way by that time.
When discussing christianity, you might do well to put away the big brush, and work with some smaller ones.
