Call it a character flaw, but righteous pious unsubstantiated BS gets me as pissed as the Planet X'ers do.
"Notions of international security which arose in the wake of that war are slowly but surely being proven false."
How do you support this? I don't see why I should buy this. You have not even stated the notions before declaring them false!
"Clutching to an old order because "it's always worked*" and ignoring the fact that change is the only constant is foolish."
Again, vague and empty words. Please be more specific.
"One major reason, imo, for the west's ascendancy is that we embrace change. while the Arab and Persian world has done quite the opposite. A culture cannot coast forever on its invention of algebra."
Okay, This is fine- I disagree. BUT even so, how does this statement make this a war of liberation?
"If that sounds like "us against them," it is. It's a result of both human nature and the unfortunate rise of the nation-state. But we are where we are...though that will inevitably change someday as well."
Unfortunately, I think we have helped (along with generous help from the Islamic rtadicals) to amke this an us-VS-them situation. Again, how does this make it a war of liberation? How does this fix the cultural clash that is ongoing between (mid)east and west? How does this help?
"As for where this war will lead us, who knows? I returned my crystal ball long ago when I discovered the darn thing didn't work."
Yes, who knows. And how does this justify this war, in general- and more specifically: how does this justify this war as a war of liberation
