Larry J: That is 100% Grade A crap, and here is why:

First off, to address your BS analogy: The abuser of that family is bound by a law that we ALL submit to in this country as part of being a citizen. That body of law understands that Children are not capable of authentically choosing their living conditions even supposing they had the power to choose. The Adult Iraqis are, obviously, adults. To call them children is absurd. To kill them, use force on them against their will to liberate them is a contradiction.

Larry, your arrogance is showing through your threadbare hubris, please cover yourself.

You are saying that "those people" are not 'people' enough to choose what they want and have a will about what they want. Therefore we have the right to rule them.

"Are we to sit back and refuse to get involved because they're too weak and oppressed to liberate themselves? "

You are attributing a desire to them to be liberated BY US, from the madman that rules them. You are not treating them like free people, you are deciding for them. If they don't ask us to liberate them- INDEED! If they don't want us there at all, then how do you claim it is liberation?

Oh, I see, unless we master another people against their will, we are cowards? How does this follow?

Argument by analogy, Larry, is the weakest and most theatrical form of argument. Suppose Saddam is Hitler. Suppose He is Stalin- okay, we should take him out because under that analagoy point 1,2 and 3....

Suppose Saddam is a giant pink grapefruit and we are the Great Grapefruit Juicer of Justice. Suppose he is Darth Vader and we are luke, and like France is really Han Solo who just needsa a push in the right direction by Tony Blair who is really the Wookie chewbaka.... Get a grip.

BUT HE IS NOT! He is Saddam. The Iraqi is NOT a beat up family on the block- they are a People with a culture, a civilization and inalienable RIGHTS!
