Yes, actuallly. For a while I would read and read here and not say anything and have heartburn for hours.
It's better to speak. The heartburn doesn't last as long. ;)
This particular issue has gotten to me for two reasons. The pernicious tendency to say what we aren't instead of defining what we are is one. The other -- and I in no way mean to state or imply that anyone else here wishes harm to befall preschoolers -- simply derives from the fact that I work with many, many five-year-olds (and four-year-olds, and three-year... well, you get the idea) every week. The mere thought that anyone could even think blowing them up with a rocket is acceptable "collateral damage" just horrifies me, especially when I would bet all my worldly goods that the soldiers who discovered their little mangled bodies were sick over it and found it unacceptable too. There are days, working with the little folks, that I would consider any one of them worth 10 of any adults I know. Including me.
I realize I've been yelling today. But I think I've been more of an American by doing that than I have all the days I read in silence.
So... thanks...
Best regards--
Mary Anne
