People have the right to boycott for whatever reason they choose. Personally, I'm boycotting products from the "Axis of Weasels" countries, including buying pearls instead of diamonds for my wife (most diamonds go through Belgium) and cancelling a European vacation this year. I'll go to Europe (probably next year), but not to any of the Weasels nations.
Tom's point was that some people were complaining when people were boycotting the Dixie Chicks as a restriction of their free speech rights when at the same time, they supported boycotts against Dr. Laura and Rush Limbaugh. That's at best inconsistant and at worst hypocritical.
Like I said, people are free to boycott as they see fit.
