Re: We were talking about...

<Your theory was that Americans don't like to listen to the left wing message (proving that there are no left-wingers, I guess).

No, just that there are not enough to financially sustain a decent national radio show. Don't forget, there's a big difference between many people who routinely vote Democrat, and the typically more radical leftists who are the ones who try get into talk radio. The influence of the Left in this country is not due to their greater numbers, but their positions of influence.

My theory was that it says something about the difference between left and right wingers, other than the obvious political differences. That (in case I was too brief, last time) the folks on the right are more interested in listening to radio that raises their blood-pressure, than the lefties. I'm not wedded to this theory; it's just a thought.

Okay, let's see if I'm following you this time. Are you assuming that all talk radio is intended to raise blood pressure? But then according to your theory, wouldn't a nice, quiet, progressive program appeal to the kinder, gentler liberals and thus be successful?

No. Sorry, such programs don't make money either. Think Pacifica.

Your pointing out that there are indeed commentators, protesters, and celebrities with left-wing points of view would be a good point to raise. If I had argued that there were no left-wing commentators, protesters, and celebrities.

You missed the point. What I was pointing out is that the left-wing commentator, protesters, etc. have been conducting themselves in a hostile and aggressive manner at least as likely to raise the blood pressure of their target audience as the most abrasive conservative talk show host. Are they mistaken in doing this? Maybe they're missing their nice, quiet target liberal audience this way? Maybe you should let them know.
