I have stayed away from this and let Tom take all the pile of dung you guys would throw at him (because he just loves shoveling it so much ;-) but this one is just begging for my interjection.
In 1945 the average IQ of the German was generally higher than that of the US occupiers. The average IQ of the japanese was at parity with the US occupiers. Guess what we're looking at in Iraq or Afghanistan?
Yep - a thirty point spread in most cases. And no, its not in favor of the Afghans or Iraqis.
Do you think that maybe that might have *something* to do with the violent predilection of the residents?
There's a reason why those areas are a--backwards and no, not all of it was due to "western imperialism."
I have some tales about how Iraqis loved hanging people from lamp posts in Baghdad - no not Americans - but their fellow Iraqis.
Without entering into a Lee-esque position, not all nations or peoples are equal. Comparing Germany with Iraq is a laugh-riot. My great-uncle was killed by a drunk US serviceman in a jeep, I know all about the German occupation and the disparity of that situation with the one in Iraq.
Light years baby...light years.
