Childlike and unnerving...

Folks who blow themselves up and who see the world in two dimensions - are very similar to children. Obviously, not all Iraqis are childlike or even most of them. However, separate those that have been kept isolated from information, world history and have lived on word of mouth alone - and I will show you some very childlike views of the world. The women especially are forever kept in a sort of childlike stasis wherein men (daddy) rule their entire lives. They must walk behind the man, serve the man and maintain a subordinate position just like a child. They are not taught to read or write as their opinions are considered without merit - just like a child.

Heck, I wont limit the childlike views to Iraqis or arabs - for all intents and purposes half the planet is childlike in their outlook. It takes so very little to manipulate them. An exposed navel can sell spirits, a daytime television commercial can play on their insecurity or greed.

Childlike behavior is not limited to capitalists to be sure. Socialists are the ultimate manifestation of the childlike outlook. The state becomes a pseudo-daddy/mommy to them and they are encouraged to see themselves as loyal children of a big family. Independent thought and individualism is generally frowned upon as it is the "family unit" which is all important.

Clinton was still focused on his childlike needs and used childlike judgment. Arrested adolescence is found in millions of people.

Yes, it may indeed be unnerving - but that is why the the world is in the state that it is. The tough questions are wholly unaddressed or delayed. The big picture eludes almost all.

Enlightened capitalism is the realization that freedom and personal growth are served best in a free world and free market:

Self concern is good - but selfishness is bad.

There exists a subtle but significant difference. A child's view revolves solely around himself. His needs, wants and hurts are the sole focus of his existence. An adult realizes that there is more at stake than his own needs and that his own needs are often best served by focusing on the plights of others. An adult seeks to support himself while a child always seeks support from others.

I know I have drifted a long ways away from the original topic of:

intelligence/violence ratios
links regarding literacy/violence
& genetic mutations in the region from inbreeding.

Here are the stats on Iraq illiteracy from the UN site INFONATION

While not all illiterates are violent it doesn't take a Phd to realize that regions such as Iraq with 42% adult illiteracy have had serious predilections to violence due to the inability to express themselves or to read newspapers and to hear only state-controlled media.

For Robert, MA or Raoul to paint German nonviolence as an example of how unpopular and unjust this war is - is patently ridiculous. This war was so brief half the folks never fired a shot. Many Iraqis who were Baathist loyalists fled to fight another day when Baghdad fell. These folks were not demoralized by years of fighting and suffering - merely months.

Take these factors and add illiteracy and IMHO significantly lower population IQs than were found in Germany or Japan - and you have the recipe for continued sniping, violence and guerrilla resistance. That does not mean there aren't millions of Iraqis overjoyed at the US presence - but it simply points out the contributing factors to the news stories Don and others seem to love to hear to validate their antiBush sentiments and attemt to assuage any growth in their own personal insecurities.
