If your hero knows your not a scientist why can't you admit it? In your case the probabilty of technical error has been shown to be rather high both through obvious mistaks and because your lack of ability to admit error shows you have no self correcting mechanism.
What's with the typo anyway? Did you retype your chapter or was this how it got through the editor?
