Go to http://catalog.loc.gov/.
Click on "Basic Search".
Make sure that "*Title" is selected in the "Search type" box. It's usually the default choice. Type "mars: the living planet" into the "Search" box, and click the "Search Now" button, or hit Enter.
You will get to the brief record. The citations for the two copies of the book are listed, along with their locations. The LOC gets two copies of every book printed in the US by commercial and academic presses, and also some vanity presses. They keep a great many of them, but not all. This is especially true of fiction.
Anyone interested in what else is in the LOC's exobiology collection can click on "Full Record", the third tab from the left at the top of the brief record. Scroll down to the subject headings, all of which are links to lists of items catalogued under that subject.
Sorry for the dead links.
Regards--
Mary Anne
