You choose not to read the book. That's fine.
There are many books I choose not to read. Sometimes it's lack of interest (the reason you site here for not reading Mr. DiGregorio's book), and sometimes it's lack of time. Either way, the other side of that decision is that I must admit my ignorance concerning those books and look to others for opinions on them.
You have based your opinion on other things you have read by Mr. DiGregorio, a kind of global evaluation. Fair enough. It gives your criticism a kind of proximate authority, not as good as being able to quote the work and refute it chapter-and-verse, not good enough for a professional rebuttal, but enough for a personal evaluation.
However, to equate an open mind with an empty one comes at intellectual life from the wrong end. The truly empty mind is closed and lets nothing in. That way its own voice sounds majestic talking to itself as it echoes off the vacant, hollow halls of knowledge, unenriched, uncontradicted, and unchallenged.
