We all realize that Iran isn't Iraq, and this is a different situation...
...but some of this sounds hauntingly familiar:
In that parallel universe, exactly what would the United Nations be doing to stop Iran [Iraq] from thumbing their noses at the inspectors, and continuing work on atomic weapons to destroy Israel?
It seems to me, in unfortunate retrospect, that the UN did indeed have a better handle on the issue of WMD in Iraq, prior to the invasion, that we did. Perhaps we shouldn't hastily discount their credibility in the matter of Iran.
