re: too bad

Kind of reminds me of the Kerry "Time" interview, which basically broke down to "I would have done exactly what Bush did, but completely differently."

- Too bad we blew all our political capital by pursuing the Iraq matter.

- Too bad we destroyed all our international good faith and cerdibility by hyping a threat that did not exist to prosecute an unnecessary war for false claims of 'pre-emptive self defense'.

Political capital with France, Germany, Russia, and nations that hate us on principle anyway. There are also many nations on our side, but of course they don't count when the term "international" is used. Better hope Kerry wins. He plans on touring Europe and other nations on a great abasement and ring-kissing tour. Like most liberals, he thinks Sirius itself shines out of Europe's ass.

- Too bad we ally ourselves with illegetimate dictators who took power by force, otherwise we might have credibility when we talk about the danger of Ayatollahs and other tyrants

- Too bad we ally ourselves with (and do not prosecute) a real, documented and provable proliferator of nuclear weapons technology, missile technology and components (pakistan)

I assume both of these refer to Pakistan? And during the war with the Taliban, I suppose you would have put sanctions on Pakistan, or maybe arranged to see that their leader was overthrown, or in some other way insure that the allies of the Taliban in that nation rose to power. Or maybe you assumed that Musharraf would be immediately replaced by some democratic secular leader of great wisdom. And certainly, this would result in a great increase in loving brotherhood between Pakistan and India, both aiming nukes at each other.

Or maybe you have a brilliant idea we haven't thought of yet. There's always the Firm Letters Of Disapproval from the U.N., known to make dictators who kill thousands on a whim quiver in their jackboots. "Oh, dear, not sanctions. However will I get enough for me and my family to eat?"

"Done differently." For the thousandth time, "HOW?" Kerry can't answer this question. Can you? Maybe do the same "dumb" stuff, only with U.N. approval? Like the actions aren't dumb any more if you get enough nations to agree with you? Lord knows a lot of people think like this: "It can't be a stupid idea because all my friends go along with it."

If there is anything that assures me that Kerry should not be president, it's that he thinks like you.
