Questions I'd like to see answered:

- Who exactly were the prisoners being subjected to "resistance to interrogation" treatment? How many were in this category? What were they in there for? Reports from Iraqis detained for non-insurgency or other less-serious reasons do not mention this kind of abuse.

- Assuming these people were not naked and wearing hoods for being jaywalkers, does someone have a brilliant idea as to exactly how one does extract information on the insurgency that will save American and Iraqi lives? Bring out "The Comfy Chair" and "Soft Cushions" maybe? Being held in a cell with three meals a day is not going to impress someone who cheerfully sets off bombs among worshipping pilgrims at a holy site, or bombs near a school bus.

- Assuming that we make the policy decision to forego this lifesaving information in order to preserve our moral high ground, will we get any slack from the people--the ones who are so irate about the rights of these insurgents--when the American body count climbs?

I've already noticed that our military's decision to engage in a war with minimal civilian damage, a decision that has greatly increased our casualties, gets no such slack from the bodycounters.
