First off, as I have said numerous times, I think that some prizes are fine, They tend to be more about raising public awareness than being an actual incentive- you admit FAR more was spent than the actual prize, so the money has to come from somewhere eventually...
That worked for the grand challenge and thats great, but even a moron like yourself has to admit that it will not work for all things for reasons I previously stated- If I want a one of a kind multimillion dollar laser that i will only buy one of and I offer a 'prize' NO COMPANY is going to try to build it in hopes of getting a prize- so what we do is the sane thing to do- We publicly announce that we are looking for bids from any interested company, they make their bids and we choose the best one for the best price-
If we announced a 'prize' for a system the companies would just laugh... We'd have to pay them even for a crappy system that just barely met the specs...
And Rich, you better be careful with your slander... That is not a joke- You have proven to us all that you are a worthless piece of filth, but you have no evidence that I have handled grant money illegally... saying that I have is by definition SLANDER
Flame » in reply to 50 times more than the DARPA prize was invested in chasing it. Just because nobody would fund YOUR prize pursuits...
