>>>If I want a one of a kind multimillion dollar laser that i will only buy one of and I offer a 'prize' NO COMPANY is going to try to build it in hopes of getting a prize- so what we do is the sane thing to do- We publicly announce that we are looking for bids from any interested company, they make their bids and we choose the best one for the best price- <<<<
How do you know that "NO COMPANY" would chase after a "mere" million dollar prize even if the required research & development supposedly has no potential commercial spinoff applications? A million dollars is a lot of money. Plenty of entrepreneurs have lunged for far less, and they've put their money where their mouth is too. Meanwhile, the prestige involved with winning such prizes serves as quite a carrot on a stick, especially to younger folks who seek to enhance their resumes. Foundations, state-subsidized organizations, universities, and even angel (and some venture) capitalists LOVE making inroads with such pioneering spirits who can turn out to be tomorrow's (if not today's) leaders.
Meanwhile, whenever you accuse someone of slander, keep something in mind. First, get a clue about what slander means. You don't have one yet. Look it up, you arrogant insecure troll. Next, just because you're definitely no lawyer (and are ironically probably even proud of that) doesn't change the fact that truth is an absolute defense. You have NO business benefiting from what's unethically extracted at gunpoint from us taxpayers and it's our Constitutional right to set the record straight about you. Third, Bill Gates said it's good to foresee trends, spot paradigm shifts, overcome one's initial fears of them, embrace them and profit. Do with that nugget what you will. Your latest post suggests you're not as hopeless as I'd previously thought.
