In the strictest sense, major combat operations are largely over. They ended when the armored brigades and divisions finished their charge across Iraq last year, when large numbers of bombers and attack planes finished with their patrols and attack missions, etc. What's going on today is recovery, restoration, and mop-up of the dead-end gang, like what happened on island after island across the Pacific in WWII and to a lessor degree in Germany well after VE Day.
The fight for Falluga was intense with very heavy fighting. To the personnel involved, they were indeed major combat operations, but on a limited geographic scale.
Try reading some history for a change. You MIGHT learn some perspective.
