Good replies.

- Your point on college students being adults is well-made, and taken.

I have consistently pointed out that military personnel are adults when someone mentions "sending our children to war," and I can't characterize college students as "helpless kids" and remain consistent.

I still don't like that they're taught crap, and will continue to point it out as crap, and hope the administration and fellow teachers respond, but that's about as far as we can take it, I suppose.

- Your reply to my question on what offenses you believe warrant dismissal or discipline was detailed, and I appreciate it.

- Good! Why do you insist the extremists are all in charge?

Most of the people at universities aren't extremists, any more than most Democrats are hard leftists, or Republicans are fundamentalist rednecks. But you need to ask: whose policies are being followed? Which faction has the most influence? Is the tail wagging the dog, or isn't it?

Some people treat a creationist book in a park store, or the Ten Commandments in a lobby as though it was the first crack in the dam holding back the black waters of totalitarian theocracy. Where is the perspective there? Where does the line get drawn?

It says something that people like Churchill are tolerated, and even meet with approval by his peers. He doesn't have to be the Dean to be a problem. He was (before he resigned) a chairman of his department. Why?
