Feminist mythology

They say that every successful man needs a wife. How true. Who else is going to do all the unpaid labor?

Don't ask me. I do the cooking, laundry and stuff around this house, while my wife works at a hospital pharmacy. My work doesn't take as much of my time as a normal full-time job (obviously, or you wouldn't hear from me much), and I have more flexibility. Oddly, I don't get paid extra for taking care of my family either.

The mommy track is a career dead-end in a world in which enormous amounts of overtime are considered the norm.

The assumptions behind this statement pretty much tell the whole story. There are still plenty of leading feminists out there who treat a woman who decides to spend her time raising a family with utter contempt.

You know, some people think being a parent is a career. While it's not the only thing I'm doing, I certainly consider it my most important job right now.

I agree that the loss of extended families has not been a good thing. For one thing, people no longer have as many role models for being successful parents.
