The beauty of a system where thousands of creative people and their ideas are allowed to bloom and compete is that you have as big a shot as anyone else.
Where people get headaches is operating under the assumption that somehow someone has to "choose" the best solution, and run with it.
Right now, the best thing the government can do is smooth the way by making sure regulations are reasonable, and that there aren't legal "showstoppers," like outdated rules keeping citizens from hooking local power systems to the main grid.
We also need to make sure that the agenda and rules aren't being set by people who are more interested in seeing Western technical civilization take a hit between the legs than in making sure we have an abundant supply of clean energy.
