You might want to remember that Christians in this country are under constant cultural attack, and are usually sneered at when they speak up for their own sensibilities.

That has got to be one of the stupidest claims you have ever made! Under cultural attack?! That is hogwash... when I went to gradeschool I dont remember kids getting bullied because they were christian- I do remember kids of the 'lesser faiths' being bullied by the christians... I also remember teachers losing their jobs for teaching evolution as fact... I also remember the venerated teachers that answered questions they were too stupid to answer with 'Its Gods plan'.... You keep saying that you have never seen such extreme examples like these.... maybe you should give thanks that you live in 'Liberal' California....

The fact is christians get away with things that jews and muslims and bhuddists could NEVER do... Religion is a private issue- I dont care about your beliefs in god, yahweh, jehova, krishna, allah, or any other deity- believe what you want as fervently as you want, but when you try to impose that belief on others expect opposition...

Christians only feel oppressed because they fear losing their unconstitutional favored status.

I will agree that a FEW atheists make their belief a fanatical religion in itself and behave irrationally based in their atheistic faith. But those that insist that we abide by the rules and apply them to all religions fairly are just concerned citizens and NOT nuts...

Christians have and are still trying to make their beliefs law- all too often succeeding... banning gay marriage, outlawing 'sodomy' (something that I bet 80% of good christians have done), banning sex toys, Making Intelligent Design a part of the school curriculum... when did we last have a non-christian president? Yeah, the christians are SO oppressed...

No, Tom, it is the devout that are waging the war and then they cry foul when the rest of us try to stop them...

The only christians I have harrassed were those working for a local televangelist that had some sort of money based faith... I stumbled across his show while flipping channels and was so stunned at how blatant a money grubber he was that I had to watch... He actually encouraged elderly widows/widowers to leave their houses to him in their will... I called the donation line and asked those working on it if they felt they were doing godly work... I called repeatedly... eventually got one that knew it was wrong, and they genuinely seemed ashamed and repentant...

PS about the ten commandments issue:
I. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
You think that this should be displayed with public funding given that many taxpayers dont worship the god that 'wrote' it?

II. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.
Lets bomb the cistine chapel... and ban all religious works of art- like the tacky statue of jesus nailed to a cross that I saw whenever I passed a church in long island- it was graphic and tacky, but they put a tiny roof over the cross to protect it from the rain... guess they didnt want the poor guy to feel uncomfortable!

III. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain.

You have never done that? You still want the government advocating that you are a blasphemer? You probably be stoned to death under god's law...

IV. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
