"If, instead of a cross, a giant muslim crecent had been erected alone to honor the muslim veterans that have died in our armed forces- wouldnt you clamor for its removal?"
Nope. And from what I previously said you shouldn't have come to this conclusion [unless you have a reading comprehension problem].
"It could be argued that the memorial was appropriate since those of muslim faith that have died for this country have never been recognized..."
I'm sure there many Muslims which have fought dying for the cause of freedom with the US miltary, and I think it's good idea if a proper memorial was built by Muslims honoring this. I might even support the idea of the Federal govt building it.
In past wars, probably a smaller percent of muslims were involved in the various wars [Muslims are a small minority and in general the Islamic faith might not want to be associated with war]. But with the current wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, I expect there is a tendency to have a much higher involvement/identification, so therefore I would think it's possible there will be memorials exclusively Islamic particularity in areas where there is a higher percentage of Muslims- like say Dearborn, MI.
