...using your logic, the members of the 11th Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court are "nazis."

Geoff, Terri Schiavo isn't "severely disabled." She doesn't exist any more. She has no mind. She cannot think. She has no memories. She cannot speak. She is aware of nothing. 85% of her brain is just a dark gooey liquid of spinal fluid. All that's left is her brainstem that runs the organs and reflex actions.

Every day in this country, hundreds of families must make precisely the same decision as Michael Schiavo has to disconnect feeding and hydration tubes. In fact, there is a fair likelihood that a number of us posting here will die in precisely the same manner as Ms. Schiavo - by withdrawing artificial feeding and hydration. Its a very common practice, well supported by the medical literature as a painless and humane means to reach the end-of-life.

All of this inflamatory rhetoric takes us nowhere, Geoff. Its propaganda designed to raise passions among the ignorant who aren't particularly well-informed.

The removal of life support from Terri Schiavo isn't at all about how we treat severely disabled people in this country. In fact, I'd suggest that we here in American care for our severely disabled far better than any other nation in the world.
